We spent several years in the era of real-time data. All production and consumption, but there is still a great need for filtering. For this reason, mark Suster of GRP partners, doubling down on Twitter by investing in DataSift, one of the two companies with re-syndicate Twitter firehose from more than 200 million Tweets per day (another GNIP). GRP and IA ventures invest $ 6 million in DataSift.

DataSift was born out of Tweetmeme and launched at TechCrunch disrupt SF last year. It provides full firehose Twitter in an environment that can be mined, cut, analyzed and mashing up with other real-time flows such as Klout, PeerIndex, Facebook, WordPress and others.

Rate, which DataSift the investors make Twitter not to enter this data Syndication market itself and take it away, as was the case with Twitter clients. DataSift has a long-term contract with Twitter, but this does not guarantee Twitter not to repeat any of the services which it considers particularly profitable. On the other hand, if the DataSift does this work, it may become a target acquisition for Twitter.

DataSift tries to create a framework for real-time data mining and Business Analytics business. He saw no opportunity for products based on DataSift for financial services (real time investment signals), marketing (sentiment analysis and influence of trees), health (looking for early signs of pandemics and other outbreaks), political campaigns, (voter sentiment tracking), TV (realtime feedback and monitoring social media) and news (Breaking records). DataSift does not build any of these products myself, but rather sell data to others.

If you want to see the little app based on the DataSift fun, check the DataSift invaders Game Space Invaders which shows Twitter avatar every time someone tweets @ DSInvader. He then shoots o avatars through their Klout score.

DataSift solves the problem for developers and companies where they want to easily aggregate and filter content from Twitter, but don't have the server resources.

Capriza

A group of former leaders, interactive of mercury behind new Israeli-based startup called Capriza, which is still in stealth mode. But the company is in the process of raising $ 10.5 million from Andreessen Horowitz and another investor to bring corporate it on Smartphones and tablets (from $ 2.5 million, which is still pending).

Founder team consists of CEO Yuval Scarlat (former Senior VP of products at Mercury Interactive), Chairman of Amnon Landan (former Chairman and CEO of Mercury Interactive), Oren Ariel (a former Technical Director of Mercury Interactive) and Armon Ronnen (former Vice President of R&D). Mercury Interactive was a provider of enterprise it optimization software which was acquired by Hewlett-Packard for $ 4.5 billion in 2006. He was later caught up in the SEC suppress back options (Landan was specifically called out in this case). The trial was settled, and mercury is still part of HP'S enterprise software group.

The marker was the first to report news (Hebrew version of Google Translate). I confirmed with Andreessen Horowitz.

There is little connection to HP. Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz also sold his company, HP, Opsware in 2007 for $ 1.6 billion. Currently, Andreessen sits on the Board of HP. They certainly unaware of Mercury to the business of HP, but also have an appreciation for enterprise startups, given their experience of Opsware.

Capriza is a provider of mobile solutions for corporations and businesses.
